Featuring 26 painters and artists, the “Desde la Frontera: Visions from the Border” expo opens Thursday, October 1, at 6:00 PM at Instituto Cervantes of Chicago as a key feature of the 25th October Festival: Territories of Peace.
Curated by Carlos E. Palacios, the exhibition offers a reinterpretation of the border region’s human and geographic landscapes.

Two years in the making, the expo connects contemporary art with the cultural dialogue of northern Mexico.
“For the first time, and I say this with immense pride and gratitude, a major visual arts exhibition from our region is going abroad. It brings together the 25 most iconic painters of Baja California: the ‘must-sees’ who define our artistic heritage,” Alma Delia Ábrego Ceballos, Secretary of Culture of Baja California, said.
She also noted the extensive coordination behind the project, praising the efforts of curator Darín Fortis, Esteral Daco, Manuel Barrona, Daniela Galoz, Ernesto Muñoz Acosta, Ruth Hernández, Rubén García Benavides, Estela Fusón, Felipe Almada, among others.
