Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz of Playas de Rosarito reaffirmed her commitment to social causes by supporting the “Diana Hayton 40km Bike Ride,” an initiative organized by the Diana Hayton Foundation, set to take place on June 8, 2025.
The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Fox Studios and will feature a 40-kilometer route on a partially closed circuit. Registration requires a $350 peso ($18 USD) donation, and full details are available on the foundation’s official website.
So far, 350 participants have registered, with more expected in the coming days. The event aims to raise funds to support women who are victims of violence. “I thank the mayor for helping make this ride possible,” María del Rosario Sánchez, the foundation’s president, said. Additionally, Amelia Michel Díaz, a member of this group, emphasized the importance of sports as a tool for personal and emotional transformation.
To ensure safety, the event will include staff from the local Department of Citizen Security, the Department of Civil Protection, and the local Fire Department, as well as medical services. There will also be hydration stations, snacks, participation medals, prizes for the first three winners, and raffles—including a sports bike.
The Secretary of Citizen Security, Héctor Manzo Ruvalcaba, urged the community to drive cautiously in the area during the event and to show patience and respect toward cyclists. “It’s only for a short time, and it’s for a good cause,” he emphasized.
The press conference was also attended by the Director of Civil Protection and the Fire Department, Joaquín Mercado de Santiago, and the General Director of COTUCO Rosarito, Saúl E. Álvarez Rojas, who expressed support for the event and hoped for participation from international visitors.
