Over 3,000 Zona Norte Residents to Benefit from “Tijuana: Clean City” Program

The program focuses on cleaning public areas, washing sidewalks, enhancing road signage, and restoring streetlights.

Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz is leading the “Tijuana: Clean City” program, where around 3,000 residents of the Northern Zone will benefit from public spaces free of trash through concrete actions that dignify public spaces and elevate the quality of life for Tijuana natives.

During a tour of Calle 5 de Mayo and Avenida Baja California, Mayor Ismael Burgueño of Tijuana confirmed a progress of 60% in urban improvement projects, overseen by the Ministry of Territorial, Urban, and Environmental Development.

These tasks include general cleaning and pressure washing of sidewalks, horizontal and vertical road signage, streetlight maintenance and restoration, reforestation and tree pruning, pothole and road repair, and graffiti removal.

“Today we begin restoration work in this area, where we have worked in coordination with the federal government and the state government. The three levels of government are fully coordinated and achieving great results for the benefit of all citizens,” the mayor said.

Mayor Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana explained that specialized machinery, such as a Jet Patcher, dump trucks and flatbeds, pressure washers, and bucket cranes, has been used to guarantee greater efficiency.

“With these actions, we are reclaiming spaces for Tijuana’s families. We want every corner of the city to be an adequate, safe, and clean place for everyone,” the mayor stated.

“Tijuana: Clean City” Will Dignify Public Spaces

The “Tijuana: Clean City” program started in the city’s Eastern Zone and is currently expanding to other areas, such as the Northern Zone, aiming to cover different parts of Tijuana to generate a greater positive impact.

This event was also attended by the Minister of Territorial, Urban, and Environmental Development, Virginia Vargas González; the head of the National Center for Crime Prevention and Citizen Participation, Beatriz Adriana Olivares; acting head of the Delegation Coordination, Adriana Barrera; Downtown delegate José Luis Portillo; and the director of Municipal Public Services, Josué Gutiérrez Márquez.
