Renowned Mexican hospitality brand Grupo Los Arcos, originally from Culiacán, Sinaloa, is preparing to open its first restaurant in the United States, bringing the best of the sea to La Jolla, San Diego.
The new establishment, La Jollita Del Mar Bar & Restaurant, is set to make its mark in one of California’s most iconic coastal areas. According to San Diego Ville, Alejandro Angulo Lugo, heir to Los Arcos, along with his business partner Juan de Dios Retamoza Tamayo, are behind this exciting project, which will open in the space previously occupied by Aldea, Mermaids & Cowboys.
Retamoza shared that the project began in 2020, with the primary goal of celebrating the flavors of the sea. While an official opening date has not yet been announced, it is expected to launch by the end of the year. The team has also revealed that La Jollita Del Mar Bar & Restaurant will feature a seafood-focused menu, including dishes like tostadas, ceviche, tacos, and other delicacies made with fresh ingredients.
This opening marks Grupo Los Arcos’ first major expansion into the United States. The anticipated menu will showcase premier coastal Mexican cuisine with premium ingredients, visually striking dishes, and deep-rooted flavors. The finest seafood will soon arrive in La Jolla, promising exceptional options for seafood lovers.
The restaurant will be located at 1251 Prospect Street in La Jolla, San Diego.
The History of Los Arcos
Founded in 1977 by the Angulo brothers out of their passion for the sea, Los Arcos opened its first location in Culiacán, Sinaloa. The name pays homage to the 19th-century aqueduct built in the eastern part of the city, which was used to irrigate old sugarcane fields.
For decades, the restaurant has been celebrated by customers and friends as “the best seafood cuisine on the Pacific Coast.”
