More than 100,000 Tijuana residents are now enrolled in Tijuana Saludable, a municipal program that provides free preventive and primary healthcare to eligible residents.
The program had reached 100,092 enrollees as of August 2026, according to the Tijuana municipal government, while the number of services provided has surpassed 212,000.
Among the most frequently used services are medication distribution and laboratory testing, with 53,423 medications provided and 49,119 lab tests performed so far.
More than 212,000 healthcare services provided
The program’s activity extends beyond medications and testing. Municipal figures show that Tijuana Saludable has also provided 25,835 general medical consultations and nearly 24,000 dental procedures.
The recorded services include:
- 25,835 general medical consultations
- 12,762 dental consultations
- 23,896 dental procedures
- 18,178 vision exams
- 18,062 pairs of prescription glasses
Together with medications and laboratory testing, these services bring the program’s total to 212,664 healthcare actions as of August.
Enrollment has doubled since March
Tijuana Saludable was approved by Tijuana’s City Council in October 2025 and officially launched the following month.
Its enrollment has grown substantially during 2026. The municipal government reported 50,000 beneficiaries in March, with the figure surpassing 63,000 by late April. By August, enrollment had reached more than 100,000.
The program was established to give beneficiaries access to services including general medical care, basic medications, dental procedures, laboratory testing, vision exams and prescription glasses.
Residents who qualify can still enroll through the program’s eight Preventive Health Units, a City Hall registration module or municipal district offices. Applicants need a valid ID, CURP and proof of residence in Tijuana to register.
