Though still in August, autumn is already casting its shadow over Southern California. Bates Nut Farm has given the public a first glimpse of its pumpkin fields and the vines are already thriving ahead of the 2026 season.
Located in the Valley Center hills in San Diego County, Bates Nut Farm is gearing up to reopen its doors on Thursday, September 17.
Pumpkins Are Starting to Grow
In a recent update, Bates Nut Farm offered a sneak peek at its growing crops, which include the colossal Big Mac pumpkins alongside an array of specialty varieties that continue to swell in size.
“We’re getting closer and closer to opening day, and we can’t wait to welcome you back to the pumpkin patch!” the farm shared.

Pumpkin Patch to Open on September 17
This year, the pumpkin patch opens on Thursday, September 17, which means visitors only have to wait less than a month before they can return to the fields.
Located in Valley Center, California, Bates Nut Farm is known not only for its seasonal attractions but also for its farm-fresh products, including a wide variety of nuts that are toasted and packaged right on site.
With the first pumpkins already taking shape and the opening date fast approaching, pumpkin patch season is officially starting to bloom across San Diego.
