Baja California continues to make its mark as a major international tourist destination, with thousands of visitors arriving throughout the year. Recently, a new milestone in the state was announced: the arrival of a major cruise ship.

Ensenada to welcome one of the largest cruise ships

In a statement released this Wednesday, Hutchison Ports ECV (Ensenada Cruiseport Village), the cruise terminal in Ensenada, confirmed the arrival of Ovation of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean ship considered one of the biggest in the world.

The vessel is expected to arrive on June 2 and will dock at Pier 2 of the Ensenada Cruise Terminal. Hutchison Ports ECV notes that this will be the largest cruise ship ever to call at the port.

While the Baja California Ministry of Tourism had previously anticipated its arrival for May 28 in its latest Ensenada Cruise Tourism Bulletin, the date has since been updated.

This major event is the result of infrastructure investments from ECV, including the expansion of Pier 2 and updates to the mooring system, made possible through close coordination with Royal Caribbean International.

Ovation of the Seas is a ship of impressive proportions: 348 meters in length, 167,800 tons in weight, and a capacity to carry up to 4,900 passengers. Its arrival represents a historic achievement for the Port of Ensenada.

Other Royal Caribbean vessels have previously docked in this port, including Jewel of the Seas, Navigator of the Seas, and Brilliance of the Seas.

The cruise company currently offers trips aboard Ovation of the Seas departing from Los Angeles, with destinations including Ensenada, Catalina Island, or Cabo San Lucas in Baja California Sur, on round trips of up to six nights.
