With summer approaching, tourism and economic development officials in Rosarito are stepping up efforts to attract more visitors and strengthen the city’s profile as one of Baja California’s top coastal destinations.

Local officials gathered last Friday for a working session organized by Rosarito’s Tourism and Economic Development Commission, where Leonardo Verdugo, secretary of economic development and tourism, outlined initiatives aimed at boosting tourism development and expanding promotional efforts ahead of the busy summer season. The meeting was led by Councilman Alan Bautista Plascencia.

Saúl Álvarez, director of Playas de Rosarito’s Tourism and Convention Committee (Cotuco), also shared strategies aimed at attracting visitors from across Mexico and abroad.

Meanwhile, Vivían Salazar of the Baja California Tourism Promotion Trust detailed ongoing marketing campaigns in both Mexico and the United States aimed at increasing Rosarito’s visibility as a travel destination.

The campaigns are centered around the region’s strategic tourism sectors, including destination weddings, culinary tourism, ecotourism, beach vacations, and business travel.

Officials said approximately 5 million pesos (about $300,000 USD) is being invested through the state’s tourism promotion trust to fund advertising campaigns and other promotional strategies focused specifically on Rosarito.

An additional 4.4 million pesos (roughly $260,000 USD) from Rosarito’s Tourism and Convention Committee will be used to strengthen marketing campaigns and increase the city’s visibility among travelers.

Councilman Alan Bautista Plascencia stated that maintaining close coordination between tourism and economic development agencies will be key as the city looks to strengthen its tourism industry, attract new investment, and create jobs for local families.
