With its elevated safari walkways and interactive capybara enclosures, the Pai Pai Ecotourism Park has become a standout destination for families seeking an up-close encounter with wildlife. Among its many offerings, the safari area and Capybara Village have emerged as the park’s most popular attractions, drawing visitors of all ages.
According to Erick Pérez Arias, the park’s Director of Public Relations, the safari zone has seen a significant surge in visitors, particularly following the recent opening of new overhead bridges that offer a bird’s-eye view of the animals below.
“The safari area is currently our biggest draw,” Pérez Arias said. “The new bridges allow guests to observe the animals from above, at very close range.”

A Glimpse into the Safari Experience
The safari tour features a diverse array of species, including giraffes, zebras, antelopes, water buffalo, and deer. Notably, the park is also home to desert bighorn sheep, an iconic species native to Baja California.
Pérez Arias highlighted that the park currently houses three adult bighorn sheep along with two newborn lambs, part of a broader conservation initiative aimed at protecting this endemic species.

Capybara Village: A Family Favorite
Equally beloved is Capybara Village, a dedicated space where visitors can not only observe but also interact with the increasingly popular capybaras.
The area also features Patagonian maras and guinea pigs, offering guests a hands-on experience with these charming creatures.
“The capybaras are a huge hit with the little ones,” Pérez Arias said.

The Pai Pai Ecotourism Park
Since opening its doors in March 2019, the Pai Pai Ecotourism Park has grown into a sprawling sanctuary for over 200 species. Beyond its animal exhibits, the park is committed to conservation, breeding programs, and environmental education.
Other enclosures house jaguars, farm animals, crocodiles, turtles, flamingos, axolotls, tigers, lions, leopards, pumas, lemurs, hippos, and kangaroos.

Admission packages vary depending on the experiences included, and visitors are welcome to explore the grounds until the park closes at 6:00 PM. In addition to its animal attractions, the park offers a range of dining options, including restaurants and a cafeteria, as well as adventure activities such as a zip-line course that soars above select animal habitats.
For those planning a visit, Pérez Arias recommends wearing comfortable clothing and sturdy footwear, bringing sun protection, and allowing ample time to fully enjoy everything the park has to offer.
