The San Diego International Airport (SAN) announced it is increasing the frequency of direct flights to several European cities, including Amsterdam, Munich, and London, as well as to destinations in Canada such as Montreal, Vancouver, and Calgary.
According to Atif Saeed, President and CEO of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, airlines are boosting their services by more than 10%, giving passengers greater access to nonstop flights to cities around the world.
The expansion includes new domestic routes, the return of previously suspended flights, and an increase in international service during the spring and summer season, which runs from April through August.

Global Connectivity on the Rise
A total of seven new international routes are being added or expanded. The full schedule is as follows:
- February 21 – Amsterdam, Netherlands: KLM Royal Dutch Airlines resumes three weekly flights.
- April 25 – Munich, Germany: Lufthansa increases service to one daily flight.
- May 1 – London-Heathrow, England: British Airways increases to two daily flights.
- May 1 – Calgary, Canada: WestJet launches daily service, increasing to nine weekly flights in July.
- May 2 – Montreal, Canada: Air Canada resumes daily flights.
- May 2 – Vancouver, Canada: Air Canada increases to three daily flights.
- July 1 – Panama City, Panama: Copa Airlines increases to five weekly flights.
Currently, SAN offers 87 nonstop destinations through 17 passenger airlines, the highest number in the airport’s history. This allows travelers to fly for business, leisure, or visiting family with more flexibility and convenience than ever before.

“In total, airlines operating at SAN are adding 7 new routes, resuming 9 seasonal domestic routes, and expanding or resuming 7 international flights,” Saeed said.

San Diego International is the third-largest commercial airport in California. It now offers 11 nonstop international routes to Europe, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and Asia, and contributes nearly $12 billion in economic activity to the region.
