With a clear focus on promoting the region’s seven destinations and enhancing its competitiveness, Baja California’s Secretary of Tourism officially opened its pavilion at the 50th edition of Tianguis Turístico. The ceremony was led by Secretary Miguel Ángel Badiola Montaño.
The ribbon-cutting, which marked the formal start of activities, was attended by Martha Inés Domínguez Uscanga, Undersecretary of Tourism for Baja California; Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora; Guerrero Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda; and other special guests.
Designed as a strategic networking hub, the pavilion showcases the state’s main attractions and serves as a welcoming space for dialogue with both domestic and international buyers. The goal is to highlight Baja California’s strengths and secure business meetings that support the state’s comprehensive development.

Secretary Badiola Montaño emphasized that Baja California’s participation in this major tourism platform offers a unique opportunity to create strategic alliances and develop new business ventures. He added that the objective aligns with Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s vision of implementing tourism initiatives that not only benefit local communities but also ensure their short-, medium-, and long-term well-being.
The state delegation is actively working to position Baja California as a competitive and constantly evolving destination. The exhibition space features key information on tourist routes, spectacular landscapes, essential business contact points across various sectors, trained personnel to explain regional progress, and scheduled business meetings.
Baja California’s presence at the forum reaffirms the Tourism Secretariat’s commitment to all links in the value chain. From April 27 to 30, the pavilion will be open to attract investment, encourage business innovation, and showcase a diversified tourism offering.
Ventana México Celebrates Indigenous Heritage
As a prelude to the 2026 Tianguis Turístico, Acapulco hosted the Ventana México experience. On its agenda, Baja California prioritized raising awareness of the Kiliwa, Cocopah, and Kumiai heritage that defines the region’s identity.
Over two days, artisans offered products made using ancestral techniques, including jewelry, soaps, household items, baskets, dolls, and natural goods.
It should be noted that Ventana México was originally created for the 2025 Tianguis Turístico in Baja California. However, due to its overwhelming reception and significant impact, Guerrero’s coordination team decided to revive the project for this year’s event.

Social Tourism as a Driving Force for Baja California
Tourism Secretary Miguel Ángel Badiola Montaño chaired the second ordinary session of the Mexican Committee on Social Tourism (CMTS). During the session, participants reviewed work plans and discussed initiatives to broaden the vision of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Baja California representative reaffirmed the state’s commitment to making tourism a human right focused on inclusion and equitable access. As such, he presented the Corazones Viajeros (Traveling Hearts) project, which since 2023 has offered free trips to priority groups, allowing them to experience the attractions of the state’s seven municipalities.
