According to the County Office of Emergency Services, the recent spike in temperatures offers an early preview of what could become one of the most potent El Niño seasons since 2015.
Forecasters warn that this year’s pattern may bring heavy downpours, widespread flooding, and dangerously high surf conditions.

Meanwhile, the warming of coastal waters caused by El Niño has raised safety concerns at local beaches.
Since June 1, San Diego lifeguards have already carried out more than 5,400 rescues, many involving swimmers caught in powerful rip currents.
In response, authorities are moving swiftly to shore up defenses against the impending weather.
Municipal crews have been clearing storm channels, flushing drainage systems, and carrying out critical repairs, while officials continuously evaluate infrastructure for potential upgrades.

Emergency management officials are also urging residents to take proactive steps to protect their homes and properties.
Deputy Fire Chief Robert Rezende emphasized the importance of preparedness, recommending that families assemble an emergency information kit containing essential documents such as birth certificates, passports, and other vital records.
