The San Diego-Tijuana Binational Race will return on October 25 for its third edition, giving runners the opportunity to cross the U.S.-Mexico border as part of a sporting event that brings together both communities.
After attracting more than 2,200 runners in its previous edition, organizers are preparing for as many as 5,000 participants this year, including thousands expected to cross the international border during the race.

Three distances to choose from
Participants can choose from three distances depending on their fitness level and goals:
- Half Marathon 21K: Starts in San Diego, crosses into Mexico and finishes in Playas de Tijuana.
- 12K: A new distance for this year’s race, starting in San Diego and finishing in Tijuana.
- 10K: The shortest option, taking place entirely in Tijuana before finishing alongside the other international participants in Playas de Tijuana.
The different routes give both experienced runners and those looking for a shorter challenge the opportunity to take part in the binational event.

Race expo and finish-line festival
Participants will be able to pick up their race materials during the race expo on Saturday, October 24 at Road Runner Sports Clairemont and Las Americas Premium Outlets.
Once the three races are completed, runners will be welcomed at a Finish Line Festival featuring music, food, drinks, sponsor activities and cultural entertainment.
Beyond the competition itself, organizers are positioning the event as an opportunity to connect San Diego and Tijuana through sports, tourism, culture and community, with runners from both sides of the border sharing the same course and finish-line celebration.
