Progress is underway on a new Cross Border Xpress (CBX) pedestrian crossing project next to the San Ysidro Port of Entry, aimed at alleviating chronic delays for thousands of daily cross-border travelers between Tijuana and San Diego.
Kurt Honold Morales, Secretary of Economy and Innovation for the State of Baja California, recently shared updates regarding the proposed infrastructure.

According to Honold, state officials have already held preliminary meetings with CBX management and secured the land required for construction.
However, the project still requires official approval from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to finalize the route travelers will follow once the facility opens.
In addition, state officials plan to coordinate with Tijuana municipal authorities to evaluate incorporating a designated fast-track lane for medical passes.

Bringing medical pass administration to CBX aims to streamline the process and make pass issuance more transparent and direct through authorized agencies.
As outlined earlier in September, the proposed CBX crossing in San Ysidro is slated to be located next to the existing railway tracks and will incorporate part of the existing premises belonging to the Institute of Administration and Appraisals of National Assets (INDAABIN).
