Six Flags Magic Mountain in California is celebrating a major milestone: the 50th anniversary of its iconic roller coaster, New Revolution.
When it first opened on May 8, 1976, the ride made history as the world’s first modern steel tubular roller coaster to feature a vertical loop.
With its groundbreaking 46-foot loop and record-setting 3,445-foot track, the coaster’s design played a key role in the evolution of steel roller coasters around the globe.

In recognition of its signature 360-degree loop, the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE) designated the ride as a historic landmark.
The custom-built coaster was manufactured by the Swiss company Intamin, based on a design by German engineer Anton Schwarzkopf, and has even appeared in films such as the 1977 thriller “Rollercoaster.”

The 50th anniversary celebration also coincides with the 250th anniversary of the United States. To mark the occasion, the park has brought back the attraction’s original name: the Great American Revolution.
As part of the festivities, the Valencia-based theme park will screen a new historical video in the ride’s queue area.

For a limited time, visitors can also enjoy special food, drink, and merchandise offers.
Additionally, on the morning of July 4th, season pass holders will receive exclusive access to the attraction in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.
