Faced with the growing housing crisis in Baja California, Congressman Jaime Cantón Rocha has announced the State Housing Forum.
Scheduled for June 25 at Casa de la Cultura in Mexicali, the event will bring together experts, government officials, business leaders, academics, and civil society representatives.
According to Cantón Rocha, the goal is to open an honest dialogue and craft concrete proposals for two groundbreaking laws: a State Housing Law and a State Fair Rent Law.

At the heart of the initiative is to guarantee access to housing for all Baja Californians, particularly young people and families struggling most to buy or rent a home.
“It will be a space for real conversation. Developers, researchers, authorities, real estate agents, and civil society will all be sitting at the same table to talk and propose solutions with participants such as UABC, CMIC, Canadevi, Conavi, the College of Notaries of Baja California, and Indivi, among others,” the congressman said.

He also emphasized that the housing problem demands a comprehensive approach that includes smarter urban development, fair access to credit, sensible rental regulations, and public policies rooted in people’s real-life needs.
