Tijuana, Baja California, is gearing up to make history with an ambitious challenge that could put the city in the global spotlight: preparing the world’s largest margarita. The event, titled Margarita Cachanilla, will take place from July 11 to 13 at the Hipódromo Agua Caliente terrace and aims to surpass the current Guinness World Record set in Las Vegas with a 32,176-liter drink.

According to preliminary details shared on social media and related sites, the giant margarita is expected to reach an estimated 40,000 liters, made with over 8,000 liters of the regional tequila “El Cachanilla”—a local brand highlighting Baja California’s rich product heritage.

Beyond the record-breaking attempt, the event promises to be a celebration of Tijuana pride, featuring live music performances, cultural activities, and a wide array of local cuisine, offering both residents and visitors a one-of-a-kind experience.

Organizers have planned different ticket tiers:

  • VIP passes will include perks like commemorative drinks and exclusive areas, as well as access to the official record measurement ceremony on Friday, July 11.
  • General admission tickets will grant entry to the weekend festivities.

Tickets are available for purchase at Boletia.com, with prices starting at $599 MXN ($31 USD). If successful, Margarita Cachanilla wouldn’t just put Tijuana in the history books, it would also strengthen the city’s cultural identity and boost tourism in the region.
