The Municipal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPCM) of Tijuana is calling on the public to step up safety precautions at pools, water parks, and other aquatic areas to prevent avoidable incidents, due to temperatures on the rise and an increasing number of residents flocking to these areas.
As the heat intensifies, these spaces naturally see a surge in visitors. However, officials stress that constant vigilance is critical particularly when it comes to children and teenagers. A lapse in attention of even a few seconds can quickly turn into a life-threatening situation.

As such, the Fire Department urges that minors remain under the active supervision of a responsible adult at all times, and that they never be left alone in or near the water, regardless of whether they know how to swim.
In addition, authorities are reminding visitors to obey all posted signage and follow the instructions of on-site lifeguards, use life jackets when necessary, and avoid swimming under the influence of alcohol or any substance that impairs judgment, as such factors dramatically heighten the likelihood of accidents.

SSPCM also advises the public to stay well-hydrated, apply sunscreen, wear lightweight clothing, and limit time outdoors between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., when ultraviolet radiation is at its peak and can pose serious health risks.
The Secretariat reiterates that prevention remains the most effective safeguard for protecting families, and reminds residents that in the event of any emergency, help is available immediately by dialing 9-1-1 or using the “Emergency Button” mobile application.
