In an effort to ease financial burdens and foster greater inclusion across local households, the city of Tijuana has distributed 200 shoe vouchers to children living with disabilities.

Mayor Ismael Burgueño, who led the event, reiterated his administration’s commitment to compassionate public policy focused on direct support for those who need it most. He assured attendees that, under his leadership, no family would be left behind due to a lack of resources.

“We recognize that raising and caring for a child requires immense dedication, as well as a significant financial commitment,” the mayor said. “With these vouchers, we hope to provide meaningful relief to your household budget.”

Expanding Support for Tijuana’s Children

The mayor reaffirmed that his administration will continue prioritizing initiatives for Tijuana’s youth, with a special emphasis on underserved groups, to help create better opportunities for their overall growth and development.

City Auditor Teresita Balderas Beltrán explained that the vouchers are part of a broader corporate donation comprising 1,000 pairs of shoes and 2,000 vouchers funded by local business owners.

A portion of these vouchers was specifically earmarked for children with disabilities to ensure tailored, accessible support.

“From day one, our mandate has been to govern with a human-centered approach,” Balderas Beltrán noted. “Actions like these must be carried out with empathy and care, always putting people first.”

The distribution event was also attended by Cinthya Rubio Plascencia, Director of DIF Tijuana, alongside several of the young beneficiaries and their families.
