Tijuana’s presence will be felt on Major League Baseball’s biggest stage as Jonathan Aranda has joined the Tampa Bay Rays for the 2026 World Series against the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Tijuana native and former Toros de Tijuana Academy standout played a pivotal role in securing the Rays’ Fall Classic berth, culminating in a Game 6 victory over the Cleveland Guardians at Tropicana Field.

When the Fall Classic kicks off this Friday, October 23, Aranda will make history as the 19th Mexican-born player to appear in a World Series, giving him the chance to capture the ultimate prize in professional baseball.

For Tijuana, it marks the second consecutive year local fans have rallied behind one of their own in the World Series, generating excitement across the city.

Aranda enters the championship with a .250 batting average with a home run, 5 RBIs, an impressive defense, and turning five crucial double plays throughout Tampa Bay’s playoff run. Now, the Tijuana star turns his sights toward lifting the Commissioner’s Trophy.
