Memorial Day is a U.S. national holiday observed on the last Monday of May, dedicated to honoring and remembering American soldiers who lost their lives while serving in the armed forces. Marked by deep patriotic significance, the day reinforces national values of service, sacrifice, and unity. Communities across the country commemorate the occasion with parades, memorial ceremonies, and by placing flags on the graves of fallen soldiers.

In Baja California, this date also holds significance, especially for tourism. Thanks to its proximity to the border, cities like Tijuana and Rosarito take advantage of the long weekend to attract thousands of American visitors, solidifying their status as popular destinations during this time. The influx of tourists boosts the local economy and strengthens cultural ties between the two regions.
