Cyclists from both sides of the border will gather in Rosarito this weekend for more than just a ride.
The Diana Hayton 50K Cycling Ride, scheduled for Sunday, June 28, returns as a charity event dedicated to raising funds for women and children affected by domestic violence while promoting sports tourism along Baja California’s coastline.
Organized by the Diana Miriam Hayton Sánchez Foundation in partnership with Rosarito’s Tourism and Convention Committee (COTUCO), the event is expected to attract participants from across Baja California and Southern California.
Cycling for a cause
According to María del Rosario Sánchez López, president of the foundation, proceeds from the ride help support programs that provide psychological counseling, legal assistance, food aid and job training for approximately 1,500 women and their children each year.
Organizers say the event demonstrates how community sports can also serve as a platform to strengthen social support programs for families experiencing domestic violence. Tourism officials also highlighted the ride as an example of Rosarito’s growing sports tourism sector, noting that visitors not only enjoy the region’s scenic coastline but also contribute directly to a local charitable cause.
Event details
The 50-kilometer route follows the free Rosarito-Ensenada highway, beginning in Popotla before heading south to La Fonda, where cyclists will turn around and return to the starting point.

- Registration: Begins at 7:00 a.m.
- Ride Start: 9:00 a.m.
- Start/Finish: Former Estudios Baja facilities, Popotla
- Route: 50 km round trip (Popotla – La Fonda – Popotla)
Registration is currently available for 350 MXN in advance or 400 MXN on the day of the event.
The registration fee includes:
- Commemorative medal
