Fall has arrived on Tijuana’s coffee scene, bringing pumpkin, cinnamon, apple and warming spices to menus across the city. Even with temperatures still fluctuating, local cafés are introducing seasonal drinks that offer plenty of reasons to settle in with a book, meet up with friends or try something new.
The menus range from literary-inspired creations to matcha drinks paired with pan de muerto, the traditional Mexican bread associated with Día de Muertos. Here are four Tijuana coffee shops serving up their own take on the season.
1. Julep: Pumpkin Spice and Autumn Chai
Julep offers more than coffee. The downtown space also serves as an art gallery and hosts cultural events, making it an option for visitors looking to pair a seasonal drink with a creative atmosphere.
This fall, Julep has brought back its pumpkin spice syrup, which customers can add to their favorite beverages or enjoy as part of the café’s autumn menu. A special fall chai rounds out the selection for those who prefer a spiced drink.
Address: Av. Mutualismo 1233, Zona Centro, Tijuana.

2. Bunko: A Fall Menu Inspired by The Great Gatsby
At Bunko, a café and bookstore, the fall menu takes its inspiration from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. The drinks borrow names and themes from the novel, pairing literary references with seasonal flavors.
Options include the Golden Gatsby, a hot latte made with salted brown butter syrup, and the Green Light, served hot or iced with apple pie syrup. The Noches de Jazz combines cold brew with spiced pumpkin cold foam and a Canelitas cookie crumble. Meanwhile, El Fitzgerald is available as a matcha or hojicha latte with spiced sweet potato syrup.
Address: Av. Revolución 1651-8, Tijuana.

3. Alquimia Café: Pumpkin Meets Horchata
Alquimia Café combines its book-friendly atmosphere with a seasonal menu that blends familiar Mexican flavors and autumn ingredients. The café has also recently moved to a new location, offering regulars and newcomers a chance to discover its updated space.
Among the highlights is the Horchata Pumpkin, which brings together the flavors of horchata and pumpkin. Other options include Pumpkin Spice, Matcha Pumpkin Spice Foam and Horchata Latte, giving customers several ways to enjoy the season, whether they prefer coffee, matcha or cinnamon-forward drinks.
Address: Turquesa 8101, El Rubí, Tijuana.

4. Midorikos: Matcha With Pan de Muerto
Midorikos is known for its matcha drinks, but its seasonal collection goes well beyond pumpkin spice. This year’s Midori Autumn Society menu draws inspiration from films including Dead Poets Society, When Harry Met Sally, Good Will Hunting and Practical Magic.
Seasonal drinks include a Pumpkin Spice Matcha Latte, a Matcha Latte de Pan de Muerto and a matcha latte with pear and spices. Another creation pairs matcha with sage and anise, topped with salted maple cream.
Coffee drinkers also have options. The menu features a Masala Chai Cold Brew with caramelized apple cream, a London Fog topped with sweet potato cream, and a Hojicha Latte with fig and mandarin caramel.
Address: Blvd. Agua Caliente 10750, Aviación, Tijuana.
