The State Public Services Commission of Tijuana (CESPT) has completed 74,000 square meters of pothole patching across Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito, as part of an initiative designed to eliminate repair backlogs and restore road surfaces opened during drinking water and sewer infrastructure projects.
CESPT General Director Mónica Vega Aguirre inspected recent repairs on Xochicalco Street in the Mariano Matamoros neighborhood, highlighting ongoing efforts in both municipalities.

“This year we set a target of 80,000 square meters of patching and we have already reached 74,000,” Vega Aguirre said. “We are making progress on pending spots and, at the same time, addressing the surfaces generated by our ongoing construction and repairs.”
To fund the annual initiative, CESPT allocated an investment of 140 million pesos, using concrete and asphalt tailored to the specific technical requirements of each road.

The current figures outpace previous output, building on the 70,178 square meters executed throughout 2025, around 10,000 square meters over the current year’s scheduled target.
Vega Aguirre confirmed that the resurfacing campaign will continue in Tijuana and Rosarito through the remainder of the year, tackling remaining backlogs while addressing road surfaces disrupted by new utility repairs.
