Tijuana’s Morelos Park is set to transform into a vibrant display of catrinas, marigold flowers (cempasúchil), and huge skulls as it hosts México Eterno: Noche de Ánimas (Eternal Mexico: Night of Souls). This free, five-day festival honoring Day of the Dead will run from October 29 through November 2, opening daily from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
Designed to bring families together and introduce younger generations to one of Mexico’s most treasured cultural celebrations, the event will feature immersive art displays, cultural performances, and interactive activities dedicated to honoring departed loved ones.
A 33-Fooot Catrina and Monumental Skulls in Tijuana
The festival’s centerpiece will be a towering 10-meter-tall (33-foot) catrina created specifically for the event. Joining the iconic figure are three marigold-adorned skulls, eight custom-painted skulls crafted by local artists, and 50 giant floral installations bringing vibrant color to the park grounds.
Visitors can also pose alongside a massive photo-op skull, creating a scenic walkthrough designed to celebrate the rich symbolism and vivid aesthetics of Day of the Dead.
In addition, México Eterno offers a deeply personal experience through its main interactive altar. Attendees are invited to bring photos of deceased family and friends to place at the collective tribute, offering a shared space for reflection and remembrance.

Contests, Altars, and Letters to Heaven
Attendees can also look forward to a full schedule of activities, including traditional altar displays, a catrina parade and costume contest, live music and dance performances, authentic Mexican cuisine, local crafts, and themed face painting.
One of the festival’s most poignant features is “Carta al Cielo” (Letter to Heaven), a dedicated space where visitors can write personal notes to loved ones who have passed away. The activity aims to provide a quiet, meaningful moment of tribute amid the festivities.
México Eterno also emphasizes community engagement by partnering with local creators, entrepreneurs, and vendors. Supported by the Municipal System of Themed Parks of Tijuana (SIMPATT) alongside Morelos Park vendors, the festival will feature 70 dedicated booths for local businesses, artistic exhibitions, and interactive activities.
When Will México Eterno Take Place?
Organizers welcome residents from across Tijuana, the surrounding region, and cross-border visitors from California to join in the free festivities.
