Mayor Abdiel Gutiérrez Coronado led the enrollment drive for workers at Mercado de Abastos in the “Tijuana Saludable” (Healthy Tijuana) preventive medicine program.
Speaking at the event, the mayor emphasized that “Tijuana Saludable” is one of City Hall’s flagship initiatives, noting that it provides free access to preventive medical care services.
He added that bringing the registration unit to Mercado de Abastos reflects the city’s commitment to delivering services directly to Tijuana residents so that any health condition can be addressed promptly.

A Program to Support Family Finances
Mayor Abdiel Gutiérrez said that the program serves as a safeguard for household finances by offering medical and dental services, lab tests, basic medications, and free eyeglasses.
As such, he encouraged over 2,700 workers employed at the market to sign up.
“Health is a right, not a privilege. That is why City Hall is joining the effort to promote prevention, and we want men, women, boys, girls, and young people to know that they matter to us and that we want to see them healthy,” he said.

The Tijuana Health Program
Wendy Ontiveros González, Secretary of Well-Being, explained that holders of the “Tijuana Saludable” card have access to unlimited medical consultations, basic medications, dental care, optometry services, and basic clinical lab tests. These benefits may also be extended to up to three minor children.
She noted that the program continues to expand its coverage, bringing preventive services directly to workplaces and communities. Enrollment requires three documents: an INE ID, CURP, and a valid proof of address in Tijuana.
Martín Gutiérrez Miranda, president of the Board of Directors of Tijuana’s Mercado de Abastos, thanked the city for bringing these services to this workplace.

Well-Being for Tijuana’s Families
Gutiérrez Miranda reaffirmed Mercado de Abastos’ willingness to continue working with authorities on initiatives that contribute to the well-being of families in Tijuana.
Similarly, councilwomen Magali Ronquillo Palacios and Mónica Padilla Villavelázquez praised the humanistic vision of the Tijuana City Hall, which places people and their families at the center of public policy.
They emphasized that “Tijuana Saludable” represents a historic municipal effort to promote prevention and expand access to free health services.
The Tijuana City Hall continues to bring the “Tijuana Saludable” program to different areas of the city, aiming to provide well-being and improve the quality of life for Tijuana families through free preventive care services.
