CESPT Director Mónica Vega holds a clear lead among Tijuana voters ahead of the city's mayoral election, according to a recent poll.

A recent poll conducted by Plural.mx shows Mónica Vega, current director of the State Commission of Public Services of Tijuana (CESPT), emerging as the preferred candidate among Morena supporters vying for the city’s municipal presidency.

The findings place Vega firmly at the forefront of the group of female aspiring candidates seeking Morena’s nomination for the 2027 electoral contest.

According to the results, Mónica Vega holds a commanding 21-point advantage over her closest rival, Araceli Geraldo Nuñez, who garnered 10% support, while Evelyn Sánchez Sánchez trailed with 8%.

The poll, which targeted Tijuana residents aged 18 and older, was conducted between July 28 and 30 with the aim of measuring voter intention among the local electorate.

A total of 800 in-home interviews were completed, supplemented by surveys at high-traffic public locations to ensure a representative sample. The study boasts a 95% confidence level and a margin of error of ±3.5%.

Mónica Vega’s strong showing reflects the growing recognition she has earned throughout her public career, particularly in her current role leading the city’s key water utility agency.
