Tijuana is inviting the public to take part in the “Corre Sin Tabaco” (Run Without Tobacco) 5K, a race designed to boost physical activity, strengthen family bonds, and discourage tobacco and substance use.
The event, announced by the 25th Tijuana City Hall led by Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz through the Secretariat of Humanistic Development, is set for Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the CREA Sports Unit.
Florina Righetti Rojo, director of the Municipal Institute of Mental Health and Addictions (IMSAMA), said the race aims to shine a spotlight on the dangers of tobacco especially for children and teens by offering a fun, healthy alternative through sports.
“For IMSAMA, it’s crucial to promote activities like this one,” Righetti Rojo said. “We want Tijuana’s running community and residents in general to have access to healthy choices and embrace a tobacco-free lifestyle.”

Rafael de la Torre, representative of the brand “Pinche Gordito Runner,” stressed the importance of creating spaces where citizens can come together to improve their well-being and strengthen the social fabric as more preventive actions focused on the physical and mental health of Tijuana’s residents are needed.
