Organized by the Secretariat for Women under the 25th City Council of Tijuana, a series of free personal development workshops scheduled to run throughout July and August have been launched to promote well-being and self-sufficiency among local women.

The initiative forms part of a broader strategy championed by Mayor Abdiel Gutiérrez Coronado to provide women with practical tools for personal growth and to foster community support networks.

“Our goal is to create safe, welcoming spaces where women can learn new skills, tend to their emotional health, and build greater independence,” said Katherine Collins Barrera, the Secretariat’s head. “These workshops are a clear reflection of this administration’s commitment to the comprehensive development of Tijuana’s women.”

The first session, titled “Intuitive Embroidery”, kicks off on July 15, with a follow-up session on August 5. Both will run from 12:00 to 2:30 PM at the Municipal Women’s Institute, located at Avenida Negrete 222 in Downtown Tijuana. Through art therapy, participants will explore emotional expression, self-discovery, and creativity in a supportive group setting.

On July 22, from 10:00 AM to noon, the institute will host a new installment of the workshop “Building My Own Menstrual KIT”. Attendees will learn how to craft eco-friendly, reusable sanitary pads as a sustainable and cost-effective approach to menstrual care.

In addition, on July 29 from 9:00 to 11:30 AM, the Hall of Presidents at the DIF Tijuana facility (Avenida de Los Insurgentes 1760-8, Los Álamos) will offer a second edition of the talk-workshop “Getting to Know My Emotions”. This session will focus on psychoeducation and conscious-breathing techniques to help women recognize and manage their emotional states.
