U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers intercepted a SENTRI-program enrollee at the San Ysidro port of entry this week after discovering 131.04 pounds of cocaine concealed inside his vehicle.

According to CBP statements shared via social media, officers uncovered 48 individual packages of the drug stashed in the rear quarters of the truck during a routine inspection, preventing a significant quantity of narcotics from reaching local streets.

The agency emphasized that enrollment in trusted traveler programs such as SENTRI, which offers expedited processing to low-risk travelers after enhanced vetting, is a privilege and any abuse of that trust is met with stringent penalties under the law.

The San Diego Field Operations Director released operational statistics for the week of July 12–18 across the region’s ports of entry. The weekly tally includes:

  • 1,390,185 travelers processed
  • 28,144 commercial trucks inspected
  • 455.47 pounds of narcotics seized
  • 262 travelers denied admission
  • 57 arrests

CBP reaffirmed that each inspection serves as a critical barrier preventing illicit substances for reaching the region’s communities.
