As reported on this website, the Head of the Secretary of Health, Hugo Lopez Gatell, reported in his daily COVID-19 cases update in Mexico last Friday, July 17th, , that Baja California is going through the orange epidemiological traffic light, which would be effective as of this Monday, July 20th.

However, the afternoon of that same day, the government of Baja California, through the Department of Health, announced that the region will remain in red light next Monday, explaining that they want to "advance with firmly towards a new normality" and avoid outbreaks of infection in the region like it happened in 21 states of the US when they began their "precipitated reopenings".

In addition, it was said that this decision was also made due to the fact that counties like Mexicali and Ensenada have registered an increase in the number of infections, while Tijuana, Tecate and Rosarito are in a flat.

Because of this, the Head of the Department of Health, Alonso Perez Rico, mentioned that "the best vaccine is confinement" and added that "we don't want a second wave with increased transmission chains".

What do you think about this decision?
