During the update of COVID-19 cases in Baja California, the Secretary of Health, Alonso Perez Rico, announced that until Tuesday, October 20, 96 intubated patients were registered as an effect of the current disease.

This figure is higher than the situation a month ago in the region, where there were 77 intubated patients. "Today we have 96 intubated patients; it is the second day in a row that we have more intubated patients today than a month ago," said the Secretary of Health.

According to Perez Rico, this increase occurred because six patients went into this condition at the Department of Health and five at the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), going from 85 intubated patients on October 19, to 96 patients by the cut-off date of October 20; a total of 11 patients.

As can be seen, COVID-19 has not yet ended in Baja California, since to date 409 active cases, 21 thousand 183 positive cases and 3 thousand deaths have been registered. However, there are already 14 thousand 621 Baja California natives who have managed to recover from coronavirus.

In view of this panorama, the Secretary of Health reaffirmed the need for co-responsibility on the part of the population, because even though the federal government considers the possibility of returning to classes in person because of being at a yellow light, Perez Rico mentioned that today, "Baja California is closer to orange than green".

"The numbers, are figures that they concentrate, that they are seeing from a national perspective. What is happening in the state, no other person has a vision like the Governor. We present to him all the indicators practically in real time and we tell him: this is what is going to happen, because of the trend we have, because of the mobility, because of the activities and because of the active cases. Baja California runs the risk that we will go from yellow to orange in the federal government," explained the Secretary.
