The active cases in Baja California continue to rise, until the morning of this Wednesday, December 2, Health Secretary Alonso Pérez Rico reported that 889 of these cases were registered in the state.
Of this total, 354 are located in Mexicali, 264 in Tijuana, 174 in Ensenada, 33 in Tecate, 31 in San Quintín, 20 in Rosarito and 13 in San Felipe.
In addition, in the last 24 hours, 19 Baja Californians have passed away due to COVID-19 and 267 new cases have been registered, of which 13 were Tijuana residents; while with respect to the new cases, the state capital accounted for 110 of the total registered.
Thus, currently the accumulated positive cases are 26 thousand 141, of which 11 thousand 437 belong to Mexicali. On the other hand, deaths in the region total 4 thousand 304, with Tijuana reporting a large part of these at one thousand 838.
According to the Secretary of Health, one of the most common illnesses among those who have tested positive is hypertension (29.3%), obesity (21.4%) and diabetes (20.4%).
As every Wednesday, the indicators that define the coloring of the state for the following week were delivered, so Pérez Rico commented that between this Thursday and Friday he will inform in which color of the epidemiological traffic light chart Baja California will be as of Monday, December 7.
At the moment the general hospital occupation in the entity is 60%, there are 174 intubated patients and 321 hospitalized because of the current coronavirus. At the same time, the Effective Reproduction Rate (ER) rose to 1, which means that each infected person infects one more.
When questioned about the masses in churches on December 12, the Secretary of Health indicated that this date should not change the way in which the masses have been carried out on previous days: with the protocols of hygiene and with a limited capacity.
