As of this Saturday, Baja California reported 26 thousand 814 positive COVID-19 cases, of which 11 thousand 683 are from Mexicali, a municipality that also registers the largest number of active cases in the state, adding up to 409 of the 949.

However, deaths due to the current coronavirus do not cease; so far, 4 thousand 367 have been registered, and Tijuana is the city with most of them, with one thousand 852.

According to the Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, 60% of the patients who have died of coronavirus in the state are men and more than half are adults over 60 years of age.

Given this, and the recent return to red traffic light, Pérez Rico mentioned that these adults will not be able to continue working, as occurred at the beginning of the pandemic.

"The entire working class will continue to work except for patients who are 60 or older, because of their vulnerability. For those patients, they are asked to take precautions, if they have for example, hypertension, diabetes and you have the disease under control, of course they can go back to work. Regardless of the traffic light, the condition is that they do not have the criteria of vulnerability with high blood pressure or decompensated type 2 diabetes".

According to the Secretary during his update, 2 thousand 229 of the 4 thousand 367 Baja Californians who have died from coronavirus in the state had hypertension, following patients with comorbidities such as type 2 diabetes (thousand 873) and obesity (930) as the most affected.
