Mexico's Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, mentioned before presenting the National Policy on Vaccination against the SARS-CoV-2 virus that, "everyone will have access to the vaccine".

According to what was exposed this Tuesday during President Andrés Manuel López Obrador's morning conference, this plan consists of five stages, vaccinating starting with first line health workers, between December 2020 and February 2021.

This is similar to the prioritization schemes that European countries, as well as the United States and Canada, have, according to Gatell.

In the second stage, which corresponds to February and April 2021, the beneficiaries of the vaccine are the rest of the health sector workers and adults over 60 years old.

By April and May 2021, the people who will be able to get the coronavirus vaccine will be adults between 50 and 59 years old, while people between 40 and 49 years old will be able to get it between May and June 2021.

According to the plan, the rest of Mexicans will be vaccinated in the last stage, which was planned between June 2021 and March 2022.

For his part, the Secretary of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard, recalled that he already has a contract with Pfizer to acquire more than 34 million vaccines.

It is worth mentioning that Pfizer's candidate vaccine will be the one to be vaccinated in the first stage, receiving 250 thousand doses. For January, February and March of 2021, one million more doses will arrive each month and in April 12 million doses.

Added to this pharmaceutical, this week a contract will be signed to acquire 35 million doses from the Chinese company CanSino.

"The AstraZeneca advance, how is it, how has it worked? Mexico pre-purchased 77.4 million doses, delivery is expected to start at the end of March, early April, and this is a non-profit vaccine. We are working with Argentina and the production in Mexico will be on time and in shape with many efforts, which must also be recognized," added the foreign minister.
