Baja California continues to rise in its cases by COVID-19 according to the report presented this Wednesday by the Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, who said that 335 new cases were registered in the entity, in addition to 36 new deaths, which correspond to approximately one week and not from one day to another.

Of these 335 new cases, Mexicali registered 133, Tijuana 122, Ensenada 65, Tecate 11, Rosarito 10 and San Quintín four. With these figures, the state capital accumulated 12 thousand and 55 positive cases out of the 27 thousand 653 registered in the state.

At the same time, due to the increase in active cases, which until this morning were 915, Mexicali was again placed in the top 20 of Mexico's municipalities with the majority of these cases by ranking at #16, with 450 active cases out of this total.

On the other hand, Tijuana and Ensenada, which are the other most concerning municipalities, reported 192 and 163 active cases each.

At this point, the Secretary of Health indicated that people over 65 years old are the most confirmed age group with COVID-19, adding 3 thousand 768; while the second group is young adults between 30 and 34 years of age, who account for 3 thousand 244 positive cases.

"It is not worth it, take care, protect yourselves. Those between 30 and 34 years old are the ones who can wear a mask the most, it's not fair; now we have to wear it, distance ourselves, wash our hands, don't touch our faces and don't go to parties or meetings. This is not the time to organize Christmasa parties, nor the party at home," he said wearily.

On the other hand, in the case of deaths, Tijuana registers the majority of the 4 thousand 493 and 36 new ones, adding up to one thousand 929 (15 new deaths); following Mexicali with one thousand 849 (14) and Ensenada with 518 (5).

According to Dr. Pérez Rico, 55% of the patients who have died from coronavirus in the region are adults over 60 years old, so he invited them to take care of them and to take care of themselves.

When asked about the number of health sector workers who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Baja California, the Secretary indicated that from March 8 to date there have been a total of 5 thousand and 72, of which one thousand 138 were doctors, one thousand 961 nurses and one thousand 973 "other health professionals" such as radiologists, cleaners, administrators, etc.

With respect to those who have lost the battle because of COVID-19 there have been 49: 18 doctors, 10 nurses, and 21 more other professionals in this sector.
