Mexicali, Tijuana and Ensenada continue to be in the eyes of the Baja California Secretary of Health, as they are the municipalities that register most COVID-19 cases in the state.

According to the Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, recently 278 new cases of coronavirus were registered in the state, of which 132 were reported in Mexicali, 100 in Tijuana and 15 in Ensenada.

With these figures, "we are about to break the barrier of 28 thousand confirmed cases," after adding a total of 27 thousand 931 positive cases, with 12 thousand 187 in the state capital, 9 thousand and 42 in the border city and 3 thousand 906 in the port of Baja California.

In the case of the 35 new deaths that occurred in the region, 16 of them were residents of Tijuana, 16 more from Mexicali, two from Ensenada and one from Tecate.

As of this morning, the number of deaths by COVID-19 in the state is 4 thousand 528 and Tijuana, Mexicali and Ensenada lead this list with one thousand 945, one thousand 845 and 520 respectively.

At the same time, active cases continue to increase, this Thursday they rose to 941, these three municipalities being as follows Mexicali with 484, Tijuana with 191 and Ensenada with 151.

"Unfortunately, the number of suspicious patients continues to rise, and in this sense, if this trend continues, the only thing that would encourage us is to continue with a decrease in activities, to continue with a decrease in mobility. If mobility in the cities of Tijuana, Mexicali and Ensenada does not decrease, we will have to move on to other activities that have to be restricted, and we do not want that. Right now we ask you to stay in your homes," said the Secretary of Health.

Currently the hospital occupation in Baja California is 62% and the Effective Reproduction Rate is 1.5, this means that "the virus is gaining momentum," said Dr. Perez Rico.

In spite of this context, authorities indicated that they are not going to use coercive actions towards the population, so they are invited to be co-responsible and not to attend parties, meetings, gatherings; and only to carry out essential activities and implement preventive measures.
