Family visits to be resumed in Baja California prisons

After the change of coloration to yellow in the epidemiological traffic light by COVID-19, visits to persons deprived of liberty will be reactivated.

The State Commission of the Penitentiary System of Baja California (CESISPE) informed the resumption of family visits to persons deprived of liberty in penitentiary centers and centers for adolescents of the entity.

This after announcing the change of color in the epidemiological traffic light for COVID-19 from orange to yellow as of Monday, March 8.

Those interested in making these visits must follow a strict safety and hygiene protocol, in addition to complying with the schedule of visits programmed by each of the centers, which will be announced in advance, said the head of this agency, Salvador Morales Rubios.

Among the measures to be followed are entry and exit controls in the different centers, health questionnaires, mandatory use of masks, temperature taking, no physical contact with the person being visited and access to only one family member per person deprived of liberty.

In addition, as a preventive measure, access will be denied to pregnant women, people over 60 years of age, with respiratory symptoms, or people with chronic degenerative diseases.
