Rosarito started the vaccination against COVID-19 for adults over 60 years old, last Saturday, March 20, with four vaccination points, two of them mass vaccination points.

According to the head of the Secretariat of Health, Alonso Perez Rico, 10 thousand 529 people of this age range were vaccinated over the weekend in the fifth municipality, however, 3 thousand 500 of them were from Tijuana, he commented. "Yesterday this happened in Rosarito, of the last 4 thousand that we vaccinated, 3 thousand 500 were from Tijuana, at the end of the day we are vaccinating them, why? because at the end of the day it is the last municipality", he mentioned.

He said that this was allowed because no one can be denied the anti-COVID vaccine, especially once it has been vaccinated in almost all the municipalities; besides the only requirement to receive the antidote in any part of Baja California, is to be over 60 years old.

Regarding the beginning of the vaccination in Tijuana, there is still no exact date since another shipment is being awaited. However, it was assured that it will be this week.

In total, 142 thousand 118 seniors have been vaccinated in the state, and 18 thousand 323 doses are still available, of which 13 thousand and 86 are from Pfizer, which will be destined for the urban area of Mexicali; the other 5 thousand 197 from Sinovac are for Ensenada, and 40 more from AstraZeneca are for the rural area of Mexicali.

Perez Rico added that people who did not get vaccinated for any reason in the towns or municipalities where the vaccine has already been applied, will be able to go to a fixed point that will be installed in those places. So far, it is estimated that between 25% and 30% of Baja Californians over 60 years of age do not want to be vaccinated against COVID-19, said the head of this agency.
