Mexicali, Tijuana and Ensenada increased their active COVID-19 cases, going from 151 to 156, from 129 to 134 and from 24 to 31, overnight respectively. As a result, Baja California increased the number of active cases to 348 after being at 334 last Wednesday.

The rest of the municipalities are as follows: Rosarito with 13 active cases, San Quintin with eight, Tecate with four and San Felipe with two.

"We increased active cases and this is directly related to increased mobility and agglomerations. Let's not think that the pandemic is over, this is not over, we have to continue taking care of ourselves," said the head of the Secretariat of Health in the State, Alonso Perez Rico, this Thursday.

At the same time, in the last 24 hours, 54 new cases were registered in the state, 38 of them in Ensenada, 23 in Tijuana, 18 in Mexicali, two in Rosarito and one in Tecate. Also, 17 deaths were reported during this same period, of which seven occurred in Tijuana, another seven in Mexicali, two more in San Quintin and one in Ensenada.

With these figures, Baja California has 44 thousand 800 COVID-19 infections and 7 thousand 711 deaths.

On the other hand, in the last four days, hospital occupancy due to coronavirus in the region has shown a gradual increase of at least 1%, being today 10.13% in general.

"Now is the most dangerous time for meetings, because everyone believes that the pandemic is over, because they are no longer taking care of themselves, because the measures are being relaxed and now is when the chains of transmission will begin," said Perez Rico.

So far, although a person with COVID-19 can infect one more person in the state, due to the fact that the Effective Reproduction Rate is 0.68, this indicator shows an upward trend when analyzed by municipality.
