Baja Beach Fest did not generate a new COVID-19 outbreak, according to epidemiological evidence

According to epidemiological evidence, the festival's sanitary protocols managed to avoid spreading the risk of COVID-19 infection to a greater extent

According to Baja California's Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, no municipality in the northern state generated a new outbreak of coronavirus caused by the Baja Beach Fest, since the official assures that the active cases registered continue to decrease.

After 21 days since the event was held in Rosarito, the epidemiological evidence showed that in both Rosarito and Tijuana, the number of infections under treatment barely reaches 32 and continues to decrease.

Pérez Rico stated that thanks to these figures it is possible to affirm that a major wave of the infectious disease derived from the music festival has not been detected, although he also took the opportunity to reiterate the importance of continuing with the sanitary measures indicated by the authorities.

The state of Baja California has one thousand 144 active cases, of which Mexicali is the municipality with the highest number of diagnosed cases with 501, followed by Tijuana with 244 and Ensenada with 156. In the case of Mexicali and San Quintin, these were the only regions that showed an increase in SARS CoV-2 virus infections in the last few days.

Regarding the incidence rate per 100 thousand inhabitants, Mexicali has the highest statistic with 46 people. On the other hand, Tijuana has the lowest rate with 18 people, making it the least contaminated municipality in the state.

Baja California plans to prepare for the fourth COVID-19 wave coming during the winter season, specifically between the months of November 2021 and December 2022, with the help of vaccination and hospital conversion.

So far, 2 million 129 thousand 537 people have been immunized, representing 79% of the adult population. Another 2 million 150 thousand 947 patients have already received at least one dose of the anti-COVID vaccine.
