Giant quesadilla with meat by “Tacos El Ruso” in Tijuana receives a rating of 7

It was so huge that Chef Danny had problems holding it with one hand

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Tacos El Ruso” located at Acueducto 4611, El Soler. On this occasion he tried two tacos: a carne asada taco priced at $2.75 dollars ($35 pesos) and a quesadilla with meat priced at $5.25 dollars ($105 pesos).

Quesadilla with Meat

This taco has carne asada (grilled beef), onion, cilantro, guacamole, asadero cheese, huevona sauce, and is served on a handmade corn tortilla. The first thing Chef Danny noticed was the huge size of the quesadilla as well as the tortilla’s thickness.

When he took his first bite, our host said that it had an asadero cheese crust. The meat had good seasoning and texture and the tortilla’s thickness envelops all the ingredients with each mouthful. However, despite its size, it broke on the third bite. The guacamole’s taste was good and one could tell it was recently made. This is why this quesadilla gets a rating of 7.1.

Price: $5.25 dollars ($105 pesos)

Carne Asada Taco

This taco has carne asada, onion, coriander, guacamole, and is served on a handmade corn tortilla. When he took his first bite, Chef Danny said that the meat was well marinated and juicy.

This taco’s tortilla was more humid, which is why it didn’t break like the quesadilla. The guacamole and salsa are classic on this kind of dish which makes them a good match. The protein’s flavor could be tasted better here. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.9.

Price: $2.75 dollars ($35 pesos)
