A Tijuana classic: "Tortas Mi Ranchito" stands out due to their delicious chipotle sauce

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to "Tortas Mi Ranchito" located at Blvd. Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, Jose Sandoval. On this occasion he tried a special torta priced at $4.84 dollars ($80 pesos).

Special Torta

This torta has beef loin, ham, cheese, avocado, tomato, chipotle salsa, mayonnaise, and all of this is served on a telera bread. The bread was steamed, which kept its texture soft. Chef Danny said that these tortas specifically are a classic in Tijuana.

When he took his first bite, Chef Danny highlighted the beef loin, which was cut in small slices. Just by tasting it, he was able to tell that the meat had been cooked for several hours, which kept it soft without it breaking down.

Chef Danny added that the meat was kept in its own juices or broth, which kept it humid and with a lot of flavor just by itself, and the chipotle sauce gave it an even greater push. He didn't really like the ham and said that its pale color was an indicator that it was lacking in flavor.

The American cheese was a good ingredient in the torta as well as the avocado slices. Lastly, the steamed bread allowed it to create a good combination when he ate it. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.8.
