Operational crews from the State Public Services Commission of Tijuana (CESPT) are replacing 120 linear meters of collapsed sewer pipeline on García Avenue in the Los Reyes neighborhood after aging infrastructure reached the end of its operational lifespan.

Mónica Vega Aguirre, Director General of CESPT, noted that the neighborhood is over 40 years old. As a result, crews are systematically upgrading pipelines across several local streets to address widespread wear and tear.

“Pipe replacement and network maintenance are ongoing priorities across the city,” she said. “Our current focus on Los Reyes aims to eliminate wastewater spills and improve local drainage for the safety and well-being of residents.”

The project is part of a broader infrastructure push in Tijuana’s Reforma District, covering the city’s western and southwestern sectors. So far this year, CESPT has replaced 966 linear meters of sanitary piping in the district, alongside maintenance on 141 residential sewer connections and 57 manholes to prevent blockages and overflows.

Upgrades to the potable water supply are also underway, with approximately 105 linear meters of water mains repaired across the district as part of the agency’s hydraulic infrastructure modernization.

Vega Aguirre emphasized that CESPT technical teams perform daily preventive and corrective maintenance across Tijuana to meet neighborhood needs and keep both potable water and sanitation networks fully operational.
