President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has expressed her gratitude to the Xolos de Tijuana for providing their facilities to host the Iranian national team, enabling the squad to participate in the FIFA World Cup.

During her morning press conference on Wednesday, Sheinbaum addressed the situation after the United States denied entry to the Iranian team, stating that Mexico respects the political stances of all countries.

She explained that when her administration received a call from FIFA inquiring about Mexico’s willingness to host the team, she immediately offered the use of facilities in Tijuana, even though the full Iranian squad was ultimately not granted entry.

The president extended her appreciation both to Club Tijuana for lending Caliente Stadium and to the Baja California government for providing all necessary logistical support. She also acknowledged the assistance of Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora in facilitating the entire process.

“They are currently in Tijuana and will travel from there to their matches,” Sheinbaum said. “Mexico is always willing to help all the peoples of the world.”
