A newly surfaced video has placed former Baja California Governor Jaime Bonilla back in the political spotlight, after he was recorded issuing explicit threats against current state Governor Marina del Pilar due to alleged business problems.
In footage released by Pie de Nota journalist Luis Chaparro, the now national leader of the Labor Party (PT), Jaime Bonilla, is heard stating in a private meeting: “I’m going to crush Marina, for as long as I live.”
According to reports, the conflict traces back to the annulment of a lucrative multimillion-dollar government agreement involving the company Fisamex.
Bonilla has continued to publicly criticize Governor Marina del Pilar’s administration, alleging that state authorities have systematically targeted his former colleagues through audits and investigations.

What Is Fisamex?
The firm, legally registered as Romafam S.A. de C.V., was contracted during Bonilla’s tenure to conduct audits and assist in recovering water debt from commercial users in Baja California.
However, its involvement quickly sparked controversy, and subsequent reviews by the State Superior Audit Office flagged multiple irregularities in the contracting process. Those findings have since led to legal challenges, injunction filings, and administrative proceedings against several former officials tied to Bonilla’s administration.
Marina del Pilar Vs. Jaime Bonilla
The escalating tensions arise amid a deep political and institutional rift between the current state administration and the former Baja California governor, now the PT’s leader.
On July 15, Governor Marina del Pilar publicly accused Bonilla of orchestrating what she described as a “political trap,” claiming he secretly recorded a private conversation under the pretense of assisting her with visa-related matters.
She claimed that Bonilla initiated contact via WhatsApp and connected her with individuals purportedly offering help, only to later distort the context of the exchange as part of his “personal vendetta”.
In addition, she has stated that Bonilla’s campaign against her is directly linked to her administration’s decision to cancel irregular contracts from the previous government and that Bonilla’s continued animosity stems from the fact that multiple audits involving his former officials remain open.
