Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda is inviting residents to not only visit but also contribute to the State Center for Arts Documentation (CEDA), a living archive where Baja California’s artistic memory is being preserved, piece by piece.

Located within the State Historical Archive and under the wing of the State Secretariat of Culture, CEDA is becoming a hub that safeguards the region’s art history and it’s putting that history back into the hands of the people.

“This is a new space dedicated to protecting, organizing, and sharing the living memory of our state’s artistic and cultural development,” Governor Marina del Pilar said. “We want to see CEDA filled with students, artists, writers, and filmmakers, anyone who’s genuinely curious about how the creative scene that now defines Baja California was built.”

State Culture Secretary Alma Delia Ábrego Ceballos explained that CEDA represents a major effort to recognize and safeguard the many documentary traces left behind by artists, cultural promoters, institutions, and grassroots organizations.

CEDA houses more than 2,150 records including documents, books, magazines, and publications alongside 10 archival collections that gather information on 510 artists. On top of that, visitors can access 123 digitized publications featuring roughly 8,000 images.

Residents who want to strengthen the archive are encouraged to donate or lend photographs, books, magazines, event tickets, posters, and any other materials tied to Baja California’s cultural and artistic development. Once digitized, these items will be preserved for future generations.

The State Center for Arts Documentation is open to everyone from academic researchers and culture lovers to curious locals. Guided tours are available with prior reservation.
