As Morena prepares for its internal selection process in Baja California, Ismael Burgueño Ruiz is urging party members to look beyond individual ambitions and instead focus on the broader goal of strengthening the movement. The former mayor of Tijuana, currently on leave from office, emphasized that the upcoming contest should be defined by working closely with people and a shared commitment to the Fourth Transformation and its continued impact on the state’s families.

“If there is no unity, there is nothing,” Ismael Burgueño declared, adding that all contenders share a common history within Morena and must be prepared to rally behind the eventual winner. “What truly matters is how you keep contributing to the transformation.”

Reflecting on Morena’s track record in Baja California, Burgueño attributed the party’s electoral success of four consecutive landslide victories since 2018 to its ability to navigate internal differences and emerge stronger. He also pointed to the party’s sustained connection with the public and the widespread approval of policies started by former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and carried forward by current President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.

Burgueño welcomed the guidelines recently issued by Morena’s national leadership, describing them as a clear and fair framework that ensures the internal race proceeds with transparency, respect, and adherence to established qualifications. He reaffirmed that he would accept the party’s final decision, regardless of the outcome, and keep his focus on what lies ahead for Baja California.

As such, Ismael Burgueño argued that Morena’s growing political strength brings an even greater responsibility to preserve its bond with citizens, build on the results that have earned public trust, and ensure that the next phase of the transformation continues to prioritize the well-being of families across the state.
