Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana Leads Swearing-In Ceremony for New CANACO Board of Directors

Tijuana’s mayor encouraged CANACO to work closely with the local government to drive the city’s progress.

Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz presided over the swearing-in ceremony for the 2025–2026 Board of Directors of the Tijuana National Chamber of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (CANACO), now led by Olivaldo Paz Gómez.

During the event, the mayor expressed the full support of Tijuana’s City Hall for CANACO’s incoming leadership. He wished the new board success and urged them to work closely with the local government, joining efforts for the city’s progress.

Mayor of Tijuana Reaffirms Commitment to Humanist Governance

Addressing the new CANACO president, the mayor said:

“There are goals we set for ourselves as human beings, but behind those goals lies perseverance—never giving up on what we truly desire. Today, you’re realizing a dream and embarking on a great project.”

He also reaffirmed his commitment to leading a humanist, citizen-focused government and proposed a collaboration agreement with CANACO to establish self-regulation for businesses, ensuring all commerce operates smoothly under clear guidelines.

Olivaldo Paz Gómez thanked Mayor Burgueño of Tijuana for his presence, emphasizing that his participation has strengthened ties between government and the private industry, symbolizing their shared commitment and dedication to Tijuana’s development.

“We recognize the mayor as an ally with a vision for the future—determined to build a more prosperous and secure Tijuana for those who rely on commerce and hard work every day,” he said.

Paz Gómez stated that the swearing-in marks a new chapter for CANACO—one of unity, innovation, and trust, measured not by words but by results. The guiding principle: “When commerce grows, Tijuana moves forward.”

This event was attended by Miguel Ángel Badiola Montaño, Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s representative; Jesús Alejandro Ruiz Uribe, Delegate of Federal Well-Being Programs in Baja California; Fernando Castro Trenti, Federal Deputy for Baja California; Evelyn Sánchez, President of the Baja California State Congress; Héctor Jiménez Báez, Baja California’s National Guard Coordinator; Irán Leonardo Verdugo Contreras, Secretary of Economic Development and Tourism for Playas de Rosarito; and Julián Palombo Saucedo, outgoing CANACO President (2022-2024), among others.
