Ismael Burgueño Ruiz led a community assembly in Mexicali’s Rivera Campestre neighborhood, reiterating that the party’s enduring political strength stems from its unwavering commitment to the founding principles of the Fourth Transformation, which made it the most important political force in Baja California.

Speaking before local supporters, Burgueño reflected on the movement’s early days, when organizers went door to door and emphasized that many of those founding members remain actively involved today, still championing the core tenets that have come to define Morena: “not lying, not stealing, and not betraying the people.”

According to Burgueño, his ongoing outreach across the region has also made him listen to both militants and sympathizers about the results delivered by Fourth Transformation governments. He specifically pointed to the testimonials of seniors, who have expressed gratitude for the uninterrupted continuation of social programs, first launched under former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and now sustained under President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, and younger generations who have benefited as well.

“They don’t feel abandoned. They feel accompanied by the federal government,” Burgueño said regarding the economic relief that these initiatives provide to families.

Ismael Burgueño also recalled that it took years of grassroots territorial organizing, often against resistance, to lay the groundwork for what has become a state where Morena is politically above all else. For Burgueño, the continued participation of the party’s founders is important despite the achievements obtained.

“It’s encouraging to see that those who built this movement from the ground up are still with us, still recognizing the effort it took to get here,” he said. “The movement is safeguarded through coherence, balance, and honesty.”

Lastly, Ismael Burgueño stressed that preserving this identity will be critical to maintaining Morena’s political foothold in Baja California, which has obtained four consecutive electoral wins. As the party navigates its current internal selection process, he noted that the message he hears most often from constituents is a call for unity and responsibility and urged all actors to prioritize the broader project over personal ambitions so that the Transformation keeps reaching the families of Baja California.
